Following last Saturday’s 3-1 win away at Shawbury United in the North West Counties Football League Division One South, Wolverhampton Casuals turn their attention to cup action this weekend with a trip to Stoke-on-Trent to face Foley Meir in the First Round of the Macron Cup.

Opposition Form
Foley Meir currently sit 13th in the league table, having played eight matches, winning three, drawing two and losing three. They are level on 11 points with four other teams.
They have also progressed in the FA Vase and have a home tie against Ashby Ivanhoe to look forward to. In the First Qualifying Round, Foley Meir drew 0-0 with Redditch Borough after 90 minutes before winning 4-2 on penalties.

They followed that up with a 1-0 home win over FC Stratford in the Second Qualifying Round.

Last Saturday, their scheduled league fixture against Widnes Town was postponed by the league following issues within the club structure at Widnes Town.
As a result, Foley Meir come into tomorrow’s game following a two-week break.

Previous Meetings
The clubs met three times last season: twice in the league and once in the Staffordshire Senior Cup. Casuals progressed in the cup with an 8-0 win at Brinsford Stadium, while also completing a league double over Foley Meir, winning 2-0 at home and 3-2 at Trentham Foods Stadium.

Players to Watch
Players to look out for include Archie Elams, Freddie Lloyd and Tyler Mistry, who have each scored two goals this season. Elams and goalkeeper Monty Parkes have also received the most opposition Man of the Match awards for Foley Meir, with two each.

Casuals Team News
Casuals go into the fixture in good form following the 3-1 win at Shawbury, but once again face selection challenges due to injuries and availability. Several players have been in the treatment room this week, with fitness tests expected before the game to determine who is able to take part.

The Club also has a JW Hunt Cup fixture next Wednesday evening, followed by two further cup fixtures the following week, with a huge local derby against Wednesfield in between. Manager Dean Gill’s squad is therefore set to be tested to the full over a busy spell of fixtures.
