Casuals Hit Four as They Cruise to Impressive Home Victory

Casuals produced an impressive performance to claim all three points in emphatic fashion, running out convincing 4-0 winners against an Allscott Heath side who have been enjoying an excellent run of form in recent weeks.

A glorious warm and sunny afternoon provided the perfect backdrop at Brinsford Lane as Wolverhampton Casuals welcomed Allscott Heath for a North West Counties League Division One South encounter.

Casuals produced an impressive performance to claim all three points in emphatic fashion, running out convincing 4-0 winners against an Allscott Heath side who have been enjoying an excellent run of form in recent weeks.

Casuals Management Team made four changes after last weekends win over Crewe in a Second Round Macron Cup tie, dropping to the bench were Leo Gill and Jack Sang, Bailey Storey was missing through injury and Leo Wood was unavailable. In came skipper Kieran Cook after serving a three game suspension, Jake Pearson, Abdul Seidu and Jayden Kirk.

A fairly even opening period

The game began at a fairly even pace, with both sides looking to establish themselves in the early exchanges.

Casuals threatened down the right-hand side in the sixth minute when Rowland delivered a superb cross towards the far post. Unfortunately, the visitors’ defence managed to get the ball clear before the home side could capitalise on the opportunity.

Two minutes later, Allscott Heath looked to respond through a long throw from Rogers. The Casuals defence dealt with the initial delivery, but the ball only travelled as far as Ryan Jones, wearing number 11 for the visitors. Jones produced an excellent cross into the danger area, but it evaded everyone and eventually ran out of play for a throw-in.

On 15 minutes, Casuals produced another promising attack when Liam Kirton delivered a terrific cross to find full-back Lewis Gill in an advanced position. Gill got his effort away, but a defender managed to get a foot to the ball, diverting it over the crossbar.

The breakthrough arrived in the 19th minute, and it was the home captain Cook who provided the finishing touch. Kirton did brilliantly to capitalise on a poor Allscott clearance, driving towards the byline before squaring the ball perfectly for Cook, who made no mistake from five yards, tapping home to put Casuals 1-0 ahead.

Cook almost doubled his tally four minutes later when his effort from around 20 yards was struck goalwards, but the Allscott goalkeeper Dabbs got down well to make the save and prevent a second Casuals goal.

Callum Knowles was beginning to cause the visitors considerable problems with his movement and attacking threat, and Casuals went into the interval deservedly holding a slender 1-0 advantage, having finished the first half the stronger of the two sides.

Casuals turn on the style after the break

Casuals picked up where they had left off after the interval, and Knowles was again involved in the action in the 51st minute when his first effort was deflected over the crossbar for a corner.

The pressure eventually told in the 57th minute when Cook released Kirton down the right-hand side. Kirton showed excellent pace to get beyond the Allscott defence before reaching the byline and delivering a superb cross into the penalty area, Knowles was perfectly positioned to meet it, calmly stroking the ball home to double the Casuals advantage at 2-0.

With their tails up, Casuals continued to look the more threatening side, and the third goal arrived in the 78th minute. Lewis Gill delivered a perfectly placed corner into the danger area, where Knowles rose superbly to head home and claim his second goal of the afternoon, putting Casuals firmly in control at 3-0.

Allscott Heath did manage a rare venture into the Casuals half in the 81st minute when Parkinson got on the end of a loose ball. However, Casuals goalkeeper Amos produced an outstanding save, getting across to push the effort over the crossbar for a corner and preserve his side’s clean sheet.

There was still time for another goal, and in the 84th minute Casuals made it four. Poskitt produced an excellent run on the right before reaching the byline and sending a dangerous cross into the area. The delivery proved too hot to handle for Allscott goalkeeper Dabbs, who could only turn the ball into his own net to complete a miserable afternoon for the visitors.
Things went from bad to worse for Allscott Heath three minutes later when Taylor was shown a straight red card following a poor challenge Jack Sang as the last defender, leaving the visitors to finish the contest with ten men.

A statement victory for Casuals

The final whistle confirmed a thoroughly deserved 4-0 victory for Wolverhampton Casuals, who produced an excellent all-round performance to overcome a side that had been in particularly good form coming into the fixture.

Four goals, a clean sheet and some outstanding individual contributions made for a hugely satisfying afternoon at Brinsford Lane.

Cook got the scoring underway, before Callum Knowles took centre stage with an excellent second-half brace. A further own goal completed the scoring, while Amos ensured the clean sheet with an important late intervention.

A convincing display from start to finish, and a result that will give Casuals plenty of confidence as their North West Counties Division One South campaign continues.
