Tomorrow afternoon Wolverhampton Casuals will complete a run of four consecutive away fixtures on each of the Saturdays so far this season with a trip to Sandbach United.

Sandbach United are currently 7th in the North West Counties Football League Division One South having played five games, winning three, losing two. The two losses came away at Foley Mere (3-2) and New Mills (3-1). The three wins were against newcomers to the Division Wednesfield Community on the seasons opening day with a 2-1 win, followed by the following Saturday a 1-0 home win over Stafford Town and on Tuesday evening in an exciting game at Market Drayton Town produced a 4-3 win for The Ramblers . In the FA Vase the club went out in the first qualifying round, beaten at home by Ashby Ivanhoe.

Sandbach United have played in the North West Counties Football League Division One South since 2016/17 season after playing in the Cheshire and Shropshire County Leagues. Since Covid The Ramblers have not finished out of the top eight in any Division One of the North West Counties League, qualifying for the play-offs in three consecutive seasons, losing each time in the first semi-final. Last season The Ramblers finished just outside the play-offs in sixth position.

The clubs met for the first time last season, ironically both clubs winning away from home, Wolverhampton Casuals winning at Sandbach United 1-0 and then Sandbach, thanks to an Oliver Ford brace winning 2-1 at The Brinsford Stadium earlier this year.

Players to watch out for tomorrow include current top scorer Keiran O’Connell with three goals followed by Joseph Bevan with two both in the opening fixture of the season against Wednesfield Community. It is expected that Sandbach will provide really stiff opposition for Wolverhampton Casuals tomorrow who take an unbeaten start to the season away from home into the fixture.

Wolverhampton Casuals have had a good start to the season losing just one game to Eccleshall, but after their first full week of the season off, players have had time to recover from knocks and get treatment for injuries.

The clubs management team will be sure to want to continue the good form in tomorrow’s fixture at The Sandbach Community Football Centre, but they will face some selection headaches before the fixture, do to player availability and the size of the squad.

Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 3.00 p.m.
