Tomorrow see Wolverhampton Casuals start a new chapter in their history when one of their most successful mangers Dean Gill returns to the club for the first game of his new tenure against Rugby Town.
It has been a very interesting summer, a brand New Management Team will take the first team into the 2026/27 season working with Dean are his Assistant Ian Homer along with Grant Winwood, Mark Simpson and Scott Mason, joining them will be physio Molly Banks.
This summer a good squad has been recruited and tomorrow will provide a good yardstick, against a very strong Rugby Town side.
Rugby Town last season were relegated from The Northern Premier League Midlands Division into The United Counties Premier Division. Manager Grant Joshua has made wholesale changes to his squad signing forward’s Louis Samuels, Ryan Booth and Aaron Nuttall to play alongside last season’s top scorer Rivel Mardenborough, joining him are retained players Harrison Nee, Ryley Nicholson and Sam Tye.
New additions to the squad include defenders Stephan Morley, Jamie Ashmore, Jake Wormleighton Ben Richards, Nathan Scott. In the middle of the park Devonn O’Suliivan Jake Duffy and Charlie Tilley have been added to the squad.
Rugby Town started their pre-season games last weekend, with a trip to Skegness Town a good 6-0 win launched their season. This was followed by another emphatic win, 5-0 at AFC North Kilworth. Eleven unanswered goals is a great start to any pre-season, so Grant Joshua’s squad will provide Cassies with a real stern test tomorrow afternoon.
A great opening fixture, so please get yourself and your family to Brinsford Stadium, for the 3 pm kick off its going to be a warm one, the bar will be open all afternoon, there is plenty of room for the kids.
