Tomorrow Wolverhampton Casuals have their penultimate pre-season friendly when they welcome Step 4 Newcastle Town to Brinsford Stadium kick off 3 pm.
Despite having a difficult start to last season on the Northern Premier League West Division Newcastle Town and finished in a very creditable 14th place. However, during the summer period have made some key signings. Firstly, Adam Shillcock a key signing was appointed as Assistant Manager to long term manager Neil Baker. Adam is hugely well respected within the non-league game having had successful spells at Whitchurch Alport and Market Drayton and will bring a wealth of knowledge, modern methods and experience to the club.
Following the end of last season Newcastle Town have retained the majority of last season’s squad including top scorer Joel Jones and key players such as Roman Allen, Jaden Kirk, Tom Thorley, Sean Lawton, Jayden Kirk, Luca Whitney, Will Arnold and Ollie Richie. In addition, the club have recruited well with the signings of Drew Lowe, forward Callum Knowles from Stourbridge, Billy Baker, Lewis Brown and keeper Jack Sheward from Whitchurch Alport.
Pre-season has gone exceptionally well for The Castle in their pre-season games they remain unbeaten, only conceding a goal. They beat Abbey Halton 2-1 in their opening fixture, draw 0-0 at Charnock Richard away from home. On their return to their The GRG Stadium at Lyme Valley they beat a Port Vale XI 3-0 and West Didsbury & Chorlton 2-0 last in their last game.
Newcastle Town will provide Wolverhampton Casuals with their toughest test of the pre-season so far, so tomorrow will be a really good test for Dean Gill’s squad.
We hope many Wolverhampton Casuals and Newcastle Town supporters make the trip to Brinsford Stadium tomorrow with the set to be fair, bar open all afternoon. The great family atmosphere of the club will hopefully provide for a good attendance.
