Following the FA’s league allocation back in May when they moved Wednesfield Community and Bilston Town from The Midlands Football League Division One into The North West Counties Football League Division One South, giving the opportunity for all three clubs to have big games this coming season.

Bilston have been successful of the stewardship of Dave King and his management team which last season saw him guide the club into an 8th place finish in the table, but the clubs major success came in the FA Vase where they progressed to the 5th Round beating FC Stratford, Wilmslow United, Northampton Chenecks, Gresley Rovers before losing to Droylsden at their Queen Street home 2-0, who then went on to lose at the quarter final stage.

King, who was appointed at the beginning of the 2025/26 season has built a squad that has proved to be very competitive and they have started this season well sitting in 7th place in the table with two games in hand on many clubs, just six points off league leaders AFC Bridgnorth having won three of their five games, drawing one and suffering a 4-0 loss at league leaders Bridgnorth early on in the season. The wins came against Shawbury United Brereton Social and last Saturday Bilston beat Stafford Town 3-1 at Queens Street.

Jordan Crump leads the scoring charts with three goals in six starts followed closely by Harry Dixon and Nathan Guest on two each.

Wolverhampton Casuals meanwhile returns to winning ways with a 2-0 win last Saturday which lifted the club back up the table into 4th place over Alsager Town with goals from Liam Curtan and new signing Richard David.

The squad as always have trained well this week but there are players suffering from injuries and players missing last week may well feature in tomorrow’s match day 16, but Dean Gill’s selection will be decided with the fitness of some key players that are suffering knocks.

It is hoped there will be a big turn out at tomorrow’s game from the local people of Wolverhampton and Bilston.

Clearly with big local derby’s’ form books go out of the window tomorrow promises to be a hugely entertaining game played in front of a large crowd at Brinsford Stadium and supporters of both clubs are urged to turn up early to take advantage of the limited free parking available within the Wolverhampton Casuals ground where the bar will be open from 12 noon screening Preston North End vs Blackburn Rovers in the FL Championship and after the game Hull City vs Aston Villa in the Premier League kicking off at 5.30 p.m.
