The club will release two articles today that will introduce the clubs new Management Team. Manager Dean Gill has taken his time to recruit a top group of people with the intention of bringing success to the club.
Firstly lets introduce the Manager himself - welcome back Dean
Dean started his management journey as many of do in youth football starting at U8’s with a squad of players at Wednesfield. Dean ran the team until they finished at U18, during that time they won many trophies, including in their last season the Floodlit Premier League as well as the League Cup.
Two years previously because of his success he was invited to take over managing the first team at Wednesfield, in the same season as winning the Floodlit League, with the first team Dean secured promotion into the West Midlands Regional League (WMRL) Premier Division along with winning the Birmingham County FA Vase and losing the JW Hunt Cup Final to Alvechurch. Dean was enticed away to Wolverhampton Casuals at the end of the following season, where the success continued, winning the (WMRL) League Cup and two successful season’s with two top four finishes secured Casuals promotion into Step 5 when the leagues were rearranged by the FA in the summer of 2021. Dean had already left Wolverhampton Casuals to move to Bilston Town, where the season was cut short because of COVID. In early March 2021 Dean resigned as Bilston Town manger to take over at Darlaston Town.
In his five year spell at Darlaston Town he lead the club to their most successful period in the clubs history for the last 50 plus years, two promotions in three seasons taking the club into Step 4 and the Northern Premier League for the first time ever, playing against ex-football league clubs such as Bury, Rushden & Diamonds, Stalybridge Celtic. Also there were good runs in the Emirates FA Cup run including a televised game at Sporting Khalsa which captivated to the local non-league scene for five days which included a huge crowd at The Paycare Stadium for the reply. In the Birmingham Senior Cup there were wins over his beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion and the club appeared in its first semi final in the competition for many years. The success story came to an end in March this year when Dean resigned from Darlaston.
Dean is a fiercely loyal person and everything he does is built on trust. Dean has had a core of between 8-10 players that have played for him for at least six or seven years, some of them for longer. He has immense pride in “his lads” and will do anything to protect them. Loyalty works both ways and it clearly shows with the respect he shows his players and also the respect his players show him. Everyone would gladly run through a brick wall for him, everyone one of them leaves the pitch after every game having given everything for each other and the manger.
Joining Dean for the first time is Mark Simpson who has had a very successful coaching and managerial career both in youth, ladies and men’s football.
Having moved to the West Midlands in 2014, Simmo spent the next few seasons working with Wolves Women’s U18 side and AFC Telford Utd U15s/16s. At the same time Simmo was the Head Coach of the RAF Senior Ladies Representative team, then coach of the RAF Senior Men’s Representative team.
He then became manager of his local team Shifnal Town, before moving to Shrewsbury Town to work within the Academy under David Longwell and Rob Williams where he guided the clubs’ best prospects throughout their later years within the academy. Whilst at Shrewsbury Simmo completed the UEFA A Licence in 2022.
A career work move to Oman gave Simmo the opportunity to manage abroad, he took charge of Al Husoon Football Club, before moving back to the UK last year.
Simmo will bring new tactical awareness as well as organisation to Wolverhampton Casuals new squad.
Finally, today the club welcomes First team Physio Molly Banks. Molly was also at Darlaston Town with Dean, having joined from Newcastle Town in October 2025 where she occupied an Assistant Physio role. A very valued and popular member of Dean’s team.
Molly is a fully qualified NHS Physiotherapist working within the NHS on a day to day basis, along with the knowledge gained in the NHS together with her FA Medical qualifications Molly has proved to be invaluable and plays a big part not only on matchdays, but with the medical care and treatment of the squad, which last season saw a virtually injury free season.
During in pre-season Molly will be putting the players through tough sessions including stretching and increasing flexibility by using Yoga and Pilates.
Later we will introduce the final three of Wolverhampton Casuals new Management set up.
