The games are coming thick and fast for Wolverhampton Casuals tomorrow evening they return to their Brinsford Stadium home to welcome Eccleshall for an important North West Counties Football League Division One fixture.

Both clubs have started the season well and Eccleshall will be looking to go one further than last season after they lost in the play-off final to Stockport Georgians 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal and extra time.

Following the disappointment of last season, manager Liam Kelly sprang a huge surprise by leaving the club at the beginning of July, The club moved very quickly to appoint an interim management team of Danny Glover Sam Golden Ben Marshall and Will Bailey and then less than a week later Danny Glover was confirmed as manager for the foreseeable future.

With such a big change after pre-season games had started, this has left the club on the behind most clubs in player recruitment, and since Glover‘s appointment new signings have been added to last season’s retained list.

One big resigning was Nicky Parker, who last season was voted the NWCFL Division One player of the season as well as being the clubs top scorer. The club has secured some players on dual registrations from Step 4 clubs Essa Faburay from Shifnal town, Aaron Grewal from Macclesfield, Max Chimenes from Stafford Rangers as well as signed ex cassies defender Phil McKerdy

The Eagles disrupted pre-season campaign start badly with losses against Congleton and Hanley Town followed by wins over Audley and Redgate Clayton. A draw against Silverdale Athletic and a loss against Chasetown brought Eccleshall’s pre-season to a close.

The club started the season with two consecutive wins. on opening day, they beat many people‘s favourites to win the league Widnes Town 3-1 at home followed by a 4-0 win at Allscott Heath last midweek. Last Saturday the Eagles were beaten 2-at their Stoke Signage Stadium, by Barnton who took all three points with a late winner after Max Chimenes gave Eccleshall the lead in the opening minute of the game,

After making the play-off final last season it’s not surprising Eccleshall are a good many peoples favourite to be chasing a promotion spot again this term, this will be helped by the recent signings of Dylan Bath from Market Drayton Town and Niall Butchart along with Jamie Turner

Wolverhampton Casuals are in good form winning three consecutive games. The first game of the season Casuals travelled to Crewe and won 3-0, followed by 2-0 win last Wednesday at Brentford Stadium against Market Drayton. After another trip up the last weekend Casuals beat Cheadle Heath Nomads 3-0. But the wins have come to cost, tomorrow’s game will be four games in 12 days and because of the rock hard sun baked pitches players are picking up knocks and injuries and Casuals management team will have to reassess their squad prior to tomorrow evenings before selecting their squad for tomorrow’s big game which kicks off at 7.45 pm
