After being one of the founder members of the Birmingham A.F.A and winning the Premier Division of that league in 1980/81, Wolverhampton Casuals applied to join the West Midlands League. They were elected to Division 2 in 1981/82 and after two seasons, were promoted to Division 1, for the 1984/85 season. In the following three years the club enjoyed tremendous success, finishing as runners-up in three consecutive seasons. In 1985/86, they also won the Division I Cup and finished runners-up in the Walsall Senior Cup. After these three impressive seasons and finally meeting the ground requirements, the Casuals were promoted to the West Midlands League Premier Division in 1987/88. However, after two seasons in the top flight, the upgrading of grounds to include floodlights, forced the club back to Division 1 for the 1991/92 season.
After winning Division 1 in season 94 / 95 and in order to play in the premier division the Casuals played at Aldersley Stadium for two seasons, during which ground improvements were made and floodlights installed at Brinsford Lane. In season 97 / 98 the Casuals won the Staffs Vase, and came runners up in the following season whilst also reaching the league cup semi final.
In Season 00 / 01 the club won their most prestigious trophy to date by beating Sutton Town to win the Walsall Senior Cup. This was followed in 01 / 02 with the club finishing in their highest league position of 3rd and again reaching the league cup semi final.
Midway through 02 / 03 saw a change of management, and a period of rebuilding at the club commenced, 03/04 saw the club finish 2nd from bottom its lowest finish ever in the premier league. 04/05 improvements resulted in an 11th position being attained. Optimism exists that improvements will continue as the club begins to grow with the emergence of its youth side.

Club History |
The very earliest records show that the club began as Wolverhampton Old Church F.C. based in the Fighting Cocks, Penn area. In 1914 the club changed its name to Wolverhampton Amateurs and played at Langley Road and BeckMinster playing fields. 1946 saw the club merge with the Old Wulfrunians club to form a gentlemen’s sporting club to provide a whole range of sporting teams. The club’s name was once again changed to Staffordshire Casuals and although the liaison with the Old Wulfs was short lived, the Staffordshire Casuals continued as a football team and established a new base at Bantock Park.
The early 50’s side was very successful with two prolific goal scorers in Don Bayliss and Charlie Thomas. By the mid 50s the Staffordshire Casuals were the most successful team in the Birmingham AFA League winning the league three years in succession and cup winners in a number of competitions. During the late 50s the Casuals moved to Aldersley Stadium and also spent a short time at Codsall playing fields, before purchasing their current home at Brinsford Lane, Coven Heath. Another era of tremendous success coincided with the move to the club’s own ground, in 1981/1982 the club was elected to the West Midlands League, Division 2. Staffordshire Casuals were retained for the three teams playing in the Birmingham AFA League, but the first team had to be renamed as Wolverhampton Casuals FC.
After a period of six years in the Premier Division the club had to return to Division 1 because our Brinsford Lane ground did not have floodlights. In the 1994/1995 season the Casuals won the Division 1 title with a record number of points. To ensure the team were promoted back to the Premier Division the club returned to Aldersley Stadium for a short period. Two years on, the floodlights were erected and the Casuals were back at Brinsford Lane in 1998/99 season. After winning the Staffs Vase in 1997/98 and runners-up in 1998/99 the club once again were very successful as they approached their centenary year. Since then the club’s greatest achievement came in 2000/01 with victory in the Walsall Senior Cup. Apart from that one season, the Casuals have performed well in the Premier Division since their return. Neil Jones as a prolific goalscorer for the club in this period which kept the Casuals in a high position.
